7 Drawer Organizing Hacks to Make Life Easier

Getting messy drawers under control is easier than you think. Thanks to these simple and effective solutions, you can tidy up any drawer in a snap (and on the cheap!). Most of these ideas rely on things you can get for just a few bucks, or better yet, things you already have around the house. So get inspired, get organized, and just maybe, fall in love with your home all over again.

Shoe Box Dividers

If you want to make the most of your dresser space, drawer dividers are the way to go. They instantly add more space and keep things visible so you’re never rummaging to find what you need.
You can buy ready-made drawer dividers or make your own at little to no cost using a shoe box. Here’s how. 1) Cut a shoebox in half (along the length or width) to create compartments that fit your drawer. 2) Use self-adhesive decorative paper to give your new dividers a polished look. Or you can skip this step in favor of a natural finish. 3) Arrange the dividers in your drawer to suit your storage needs. 4) Marvel at your finished work.

Office Supplies Tray

Cluttered office desk? An ice tray offers an inexpensive solution for all the little things that make big messes: paper clips, pins, rubber bands, and other stationery supplies. The trays are small enough to fit in a drawer and stylish enough to display on your desk. The choice is yours.

Beauty Tool Station

Small beauty tools like tweezers, nail clippers, and makeup brushes have a way of getting lost in messy drawers. Make them easier to spot by keeping them contained in a utensil organizer. Place the organizer in your bathroom or dresser drawer, and you’ve created an instant home for these hard-to-find essentials.

Baby Essentials Drawer

Baby bottles can quickly take over your kitchen cabinets. But that doesn’t have to be the case. When you designate a drawer just for baby accessories, two things happen. One, you contain messy bottles, lids, sippy cups, and the like. Two, you create a permanent space for your little one’s feeding essentials. Why is this important? It makes for less stressful mealtimes. And it makes unloading the dishwasher easier.
You can even go a step further by filling the drawer with plastic containers that function as dividers. This is a great way to make the most of your space, regardless of how big or small it is.

Muffin Tin Crafts Organizer

You can find some of the best (and cheapest) storage solutions right in your own kitchen. If you need a way to keep arts and crafts supplies in order, look no further than a muffin tin. Its individual compartments keep items separated by color or type, so you can easily grab what you need. When you’re done, just place the unit in a drawer or on a shelf. Quickest cleanup ever.

Kids’ Accessories Drawer

When you’re in a rush to get your kids out the door, a few smart shortcuts can make all the difference. One of our favorites comes from Life in Jeneral, who suggests designating a drawer filled with everything your little one needs to get ready. This makes heading out the door “little less stressful and a lot more colorful.” We can certainly get behind both!

Trinket Dish Jewelry Display

If you want to keep your jewelry easily accessible and out of the way, a jewelry drawer is a great solution. For best results, we recommend a drawer with low depth like the one pictured here. First, line the drawer with a nonstick surface and then arrange trinket dishes to hold your earrings, necklaces, rings, and more.
