6 BBQ Tips to Help You Become a Grill Master
It’s grillin’ season again! Time to bust out the barbecue grill, gather the troops, and enjoy some good cooking. Read up on these 6 tips that’ll simplify the cleaning and cooking to leave you more time to enjoy your finished product!
1. Vinegar: The Secret Weapon
Cleaning the grill can be a lot of work and very little fun. It may be hard to make cleaning fun, but there are a few things you can do to make it easier. Spray the grill with vinegar and let it sit for 15 minutes. Scrubbing away leftover food and grease will become a whole lot simpler!
2. A Not-So-Sticky Lemon Hack
Cut up a lemon and lay out the slices to make a nice bed to place the protein on. This not only prevents the protein from sticking to the grill, but it also adds some nice flavor as well.
3. Degrease & Clean Easy
But that’s not the only lemon hack! Use it as a natural degreaser to make scrubbing the grill easier. Cut the lemon and dip the exposed side into salt. Heat the grill and start scrubbing—the abrasiveness and acidity will have it clean in no time. Onions also work great!
4. A Grilling Trick That’s Not So Direct
Place charcoal on one side of grill for an indirect heating method. It’s great for large proteins like pork roasts and whole chickens or proteins that take longer to cook like brisket. Brown the meat on the side with the charcoal then move over to the cooler side and allow it to cook over time. Be sure to keep the lid closed so you don’t let the heat escape!
5. Flip It, Don’t Stick It
When your protein is cooking, flip it with spatulas or tongs. Piercing the meat with forks or prongs will poke holes in it and let out the juice. This will cause meat to be dry and less flavorful. Nobody wants that.
6. Take a Seat
When the meat is done, let it sit before eating. Leave for a few minutes so it can seal the juices and keep the meat from drying out. A little bit of patience goes a long way. Trust us, it’ll be worth it!
